Director of Online Events

The eLearning Guild, 2010 – 

Design, develop, manage, and present at multiple-session online events and single-session webinars for The eLearning Guild’s 70,000+ members, including instructional designers and developers, learning-management system (LMS) administrators, trainers, and leaders involved with live and self-paced online learning.

Accomplishments and responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and recruiting 100+ volunteer speakers annually;
  • Managing a remote team of speaker coaches and production specialists; and
  • Working with executive management and event sponsors to produce and promote high-quality events that both serve the professional-development needs of members and consistently drive Guild profits.

Vice President, Account Development

SDI Global Solutions (a division of Systems Documentation, Inc.), 2009 – 2010

Provided sales engineering for the commercial division of this multinational technical information and training development consultancy, as well as information-design consulting services for current clients.

Accomplishments included:

  • Designing the division’s DITA for Training and DITA for Pharma offerings;
  • Founding, producing, and presenting a webinar series to drive the division’s market awareness;
  • Developing presentations, work samples, client references, and other materials to support the division’s new sales organization;
  • Developing partner relationships; and
  • Helping an existing client, Hewlett-Packard, transition from component-level, unstructured, static documentation to solution-level, structured, dynamic documentation.

Director of Consulting and Information Design

InfoPros (was Horizon Interactive, Advacon), 2001 – 2009

Provided team and project management, consulting, and information design for clients of this multinational technical information and training development consultancy.

Primary responsibilities included:

  • Managing more than a dozen onsite and remote staff members and contractors;
  • Designing, managing, and contributing to multi-million-dollar client projects;
  • Identifying and meeting with prospective clients; and
  • Developing project proposals and statements of work.

Direct clients included the California Department of Transportation, Cisco Systems, Eaton, First Citizens Bank, GlaxoSmithKline, Intel, ITT Fluid Technologies, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks, the North Carolina Rate Bureau, and SAS.

Operations Director

e-Publishing Corporation, 1999 – 2001

Directed the Southeast US regional office of this multinational technical information and training development consultancy.

Responsibilities included:

  • Managing more than $6M in annual revenue and more than two dozen onsite and remote staff members and contractors;
  • Directing projects;
  • Strategic planning;
  • Developing project proposals and statements of work; and
  • Overseeing all aspects of the regional office, including purchasing and contracts.

Direct clients included Duke University, IBM, Interleaf/Broadvision, and Nortel Networks.
